Tea Time – Yixing Flavor Boost

Today I decided to brew a white chai tea.


I love the flavor and aroma of this spicy tea.  I have been trying to stay away from unnecessary sugar consumption, so sometimes I like to use a little bit of honey and it seems to help bring the flavor of the tea out.

Chai tea has several health benefits.  It has antioxidants in it, it helps with inflammation and, my favorite benefit, it helps with digestion.  It is good for your heart and some say it can even help prevent cancer!  I find it very soothing and relaxing as well.


I always drink chai tea in my special Yixing clay mug.


Yixing is an area of China that has a very rare clay that cannot be found elsewhere.  The clay in this mug absorbs the flavor of the tea.  For this reason, I can only use this mug for chai tea, or another tea with a similar flavor.  Using this special clay mug causes the tea to have a richer and deeper flavor, ultimately giving you a flavor boost!  And this one has a cute little lizard on it.  🙂


Ultimately, I should get a Yixing tea pot to brew the tea in to get even more flavor, but the mug will have to do for now.

Yay for tea time!

I picked my own chamomile this summer so I plan to brew that soon.  I will let you know how it turns out.  😉

      Yeah, it is probably one of my favorite mugs…I have an owl one I can’t seem to stop using, too. 🙂 I love loose leaf tea! lol
