It was the perfect fall day. 60 some and sunny. The ground covered with colorful leaves and yet the trees were still abundant with them as well. The breeze felt amazing. It was gorgeous out! So we decided to pay a visit to Lake View Cemetery in University Circle on the east side of Cleveland. This place is HUGE! We were there for about three hours and took about 500 pictures and we still did not see all of it. I will not be sharing all 500 pictures, but some of the coolest areas.
The first monument we saw.
This cemetery has very unique gravestones. I love how this one has a potted plant at the top.
I think it’s awesome how they left a little pumpkin for them.
More beautiful scenes.
There are really cool mausoleums all over the place.
James Garfield’s mausoleum is here. This is the outside.
Here is the inside on the first floor.
Down to the crypt.
Up to the second floor.
And up to the balcony.
Really cool part of the cemetery.
This place is just so beautiful.
Here was a little mini cemetery that was gated off. Look at that little chair!
I found the mausoleum that my brother and sister-in-law were married in front of. 🙂
Halloween was their five year anniversary. This area is probably my favorite because it brings back good memories. 🙂
At this point we thought we were by the car so we were going to head out. Turns out we weren’t even close. Ha! So now we are looking for the car, but found lots of cool tombs along the way.
Lake View Dam
Really starting to realize how enormous this place is.
So we found what looked like a roof. Turned out we were on top of a mausoleum that was built into the earth. So we climbed down the side of it to get a look. Found a really cool strip of mausoleums and gravestones.
Then we found a sign that said Nature Walk. Beyond it was a trail in the woods. And we also found a lake.
Found a chapel.
Then found a really cool area of mausoleums that looked like little cottages.
Found yet another lake.
We walked around a little bit more. Found a really cool tree. Ha! We were looking for garden tombs that we saw a sign for, but we decided we would have to come back another day since we had already been there for three hours and were getting hungry. Also, my phone died so I wouldn’t be able to take pictures anyway.
This place is really cool and I am excited to go back. I also want to do the tour that they have so I can learn about everything, too.
