Treehugger’s Cafe

Now that we are eating vegetarian, possibly on our way to vegan, it is hard to find restaurants with these options; however, one of my long time favorite restaurants is perfect for this – Treehugger’s Café.  (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Treehuggers-Cafe/93963608141?fref=ts)  There is one in Berea, Ohio and one in Oberlin, Ohio.  Not many to choose from, but it is totally worth a little drive.

Treehugger’s serves a wide variety of dishes that are all very natural and freshly made with local products.  It is very healthy, tastes amazing, and they have plenty of vegetarian and vegan options.  Their vegan lemon cookie is to die for!  I always feel great after eating here, the atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable, and everyone is extremely nice.  They have appetizers such as Three Bean Nacho Dip and Avocado Bruchetta, and salads like Mediterranean Kale Salad and Tuna Stuffed Avacados.  They have all different kinds of wraps and paninis – the Toucan Veggie Grilled Cheese is one of my favorites.  Treehugger’s also offers “Blue Whale” burgers with three tasty veggie burger options.  Breakfast is served all day – I am dying to try the Asparagus Cheddar Quiche.  They also have a wide variety of beverages: your standard fountain drinks, of course, but they also have awesome smoothies, organic teas (Ginger Peach or Dandelion Green Mint Detox), and coffee – hot or cold.  In addition to their regular menu, they always have specials depending on the fresh ingredients they have.  Sometimes its salmon with risotto, other times they have ravioli in a creamy shallot sauce, they might also have a berry salad – it always varies.  Their sides are great, too.  Kale salad, curry carrots, seaweed salad, cole slaw – a great variety.

The board was just a little too far away, but it says, “Mission: It is our mission to re-educate America what whole foods taste like!!!  Consider how your food arrived on your plate, what effect it has on the Earth, the community and your body.  Please enjoy a fresh, whole, locally grown and organic meal…”

On this particular visit, we decided to try the Cucumber Stack appetizer.  It was amazing!  So refreshing!

This is the chicken salad wrap with taco barley salad.  The chicken salad was light, tasty, and crisp with juicy, fresh grapes.  The barley salad had just the perfect amount of taco flavor.

And this was the special of the day, an edamame burger with sweet potato fries and honey mustard.  The burger was great.  Tasty pesto and fresh alfalfa sprouts – YUM!  And Treehugger’s has THE BEST sweet potato fries I have ever had.

If you live in either of these areas or happen to be visiting you should definitely go check it out.  And I am happy that I already knew about this place to enhance our vegetarian adventure.  🙂
